As a Preconstruction Manager, you’ll be a key player in shaping Westland’s projects from concept to contract. You’ll combine your technical estimating expertise with strategic thinking and relationship-building to ensure every proposal is accurate, competitive, and positioned for success.
You’ll collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop winning estimates and proposals that are timely, well-presented, and profitable. This role bridges the technical and the interpersonal, perfect for someone who enjoys the details of construction estimating and the satisfaction of building strong professional relationships.
What You’ll Do
· Prepare detailed and accurate estimates and proposals of all sizes.
· Manage the preconstruction process from drawing review and takeoffs to bid preparation and submission.
· Interpret drawings and specifications to develop clear project scopes.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
· Gather and evaluate competitive quotations to ensure pricing accuracy.
· Participate in networking and business development opportunities to cultivate lasting relationships.
· Continuously refine and improve preconstruction procedures and processes.
· Stay ahead of industry trends through ongoing education and development.
What You Bring
· Minimum 5years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or a related role in the construction industry on projects ranging in value from $100,000.00 to $20M.
· A solid understanding of general construction methods, materials, and processes.
· Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, CET, or a related field.
· Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proven ability to analyze drawings, plan logically, and make sound decisions under pressure.
· A team-first mindset, motivation to meet deadlines, and a commitment to excellence.
