Duties/Responsibilities/Procedures:
Essential Duties:
- Ensure safe practices prior to working on any equipment to prevent harm to him/herself and to others.
- Enhance reliability of operation of systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and troubleshooting technical aspects of the plant’s equipment.
- Install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Control downtime by involving production workers in the company’s scheduled preventative maintenance plans.
- Actively participates in problem-solving activities related to operation of equipment in the facility on both a preventive and reactive basis.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Make recommendations to the Maintenance Manager as necessary for improvements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics to determine work procedures.
- Providing emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and performing scheduled maintenance repairs of all equipment.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation and post installation.
- Demonstrate safety in the workplace by following and complying with company’s safety policies.
- Create, execute and complete all work order tasks and details utilizing CMMS system.
- Ability to make pre and post installation recommendations on equipment to supervisor.
- Develop a parts list of all items to be purchased for projects assigned.
- Compliance to Environmental Health and safety standards and engagement with EHS program and duties as assigned.
- Safe Operations of equipment, lifting devices, industrial vehicles including but not limited to: Forklift, crane and gator.
- Provide coaching and expertise to other members by sharing expertise and working as a team to meet common business objectives.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and cost savings.
- Conferring with supervisors and operators in order to report equipment malfunctions and resolve production problems.
- Using a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment to perform duties.
- Participating in meetings and committees to communicate information and serve as a liaison with other departments and managers.
- Other duties as assigned for which he/she has received required training, possesses qualifications and/or is considered competent.
- Job Specifications:
Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:
- Must hold an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Licence that is valid in the Province of Ontario;
- A minimum of 5 years related work experience operating sophisticated equipment and machinery in an industrial setting;
- Advanced technical aptitude including but not limited to: computers, math, assembly and general manufacturing principles;
- Experienced with a variety of equipment in an automated, high-tech production facility;
- Experience with highly automated production lines that utilize PLCs, SCADA systems and software driven control systems.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours/shifts.
- Previous experience with pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and industrial applications.
- Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices used in plant management, construction and repair.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and recognized PLC programs.
- Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the company’s policy.
