This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. Reporting to the Dean of Law, the Assistant to the Dean provides administrative support to the Dean and the operations of the Dean's Office. This involves administrative duties that are complex and often of a sensitive and confidential nature.

Position summary:
Provide administrative assistance to the Dean, including schedules, preparation of meeting materials, reception, mail, copying, filing, supply orders, reports, surveys, etc.
Provide assistance in making travel arrangements and reimbursements for the Dean.
Investigate and resolve administrative issues brought to the attention of the Dean.
Liaise with the Vice-President Offices, Human Resources and other University departments regarding administrative matters, ensure compliance with all university policies and procedures related to administration, including outside organizations.
Assist with the organization of internal events, track RSVPs, and purchase gifts as required.
Maintain Human Resources records, prepare staff change forms, assist with hiring support staff and with processes for assessments of full-time faculty for probation, tenure, promotion, and sabbatical leave as well as processes for assessments of contract academic instructors, including right-of-first-refusal and multi-year appointments.
Assist with processes for recruitment of full-time faculty and contract academic instructors (CAIS), including processing CAI contracts and payroll forms, ensure the hiring of new faculty complies with all regulations and policies, collect applications and prepare materials for search committees, fulfill pre-employment requests for new employees.

Post-secondary education in administration, office management, or a related field with at least five (5) years administrative experience with a significant level of responsibility.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent administrative and organizational skills, a high level of literacy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
Ability to communicate well, both oral and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff, students, as well as lawyers, judges and external organizations.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of UNB systems would be considered an asset.
