Job Description:
The Class 1 Truck Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of materials, heavy equipment, and machinery to and from excavation job sites. This position involves primarily local hauling with occasional long-haul trips requiring overnight stays. The driver will operate company-provided trucks, including low-bedding equipment, to ensure timely and safe delivery of excavation materials and machinery. They report to the Site Superintendent and will execute these tasks to the highest quality standards in a professional, responsible, and timely manner, while contributing to positive morale, and customer satisfaction. They must possess a positive attitude with other team members and portray a professional business image.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Low-Bedding Operations:
Safely operate low-bed trucks to transport construction machinery, heavy equipment, and other large loads to and from excavation sites.
2. Material Hauling:
Transport materials such as gravel, sand, soil, and other construction-related materials to various job sites as required.
3. Local & Long-Haul Transportation:
Primarily responsible for local deliveries within the region, with occasional long-haul routes that may require overnight stays for delivery to more distant sites.
4. Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations, including proper loading, securing, and unloading of materials and equipment. Ensure compliance with transportation laws and company safety protocols.
5. Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections:
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and equipment to ensure everything is in good working order and safe for travel.
6. Documentation:
Accurately complete and submit all necessary documentation, including delivery receipts, logs, and inspection reports, in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
7. Maintenance Reporting:
Report any mechanical issues or damage to the Site Superintendent immediately and ensure the truck is maintained according to company standards.
8. Customer Interaction:
Communicate professionally with clients and job site supervisors when delivering materials or equipment. Provide timely updates on deliveries and any potential delays to the Site Superintendent.
9. Overnight Stays:
Occasionally, overnight stays will be required for longer-haul trips, including rest periods and overnight accommodations provided by the company.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with loading and unloading materials or equipment when required.
- Ensure the truck is fueled and equipped with necessary supplies for trips.
- Participate in regular training sessions for safety and equipment handling.

Qualifications
· Class 1 Driver’s License
· Minimum of 2 years of experience driving heavy-duty trucks, preferably in the construction or excavation industry.
· Experience with low-bedding equipment transportation is a strong asset.
