Job Scope: The Operations Training Lead role involves developing and coordinating training programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, focusing on technical skills, safety protocols, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Operations to create training plans for all line functions within each facility.
- Develop customized training programs for different roles within the manufacturing team. These programs should cover technical skills, safety protocols, and compliance with industry standards.
- Create and evaluate current documents, programs, and functionality of training in place.
- Engage with operations and engineering to create training for new equipment installations and upgrades.
- Engage with IT to develop training for new site programs or systems.
- Develop training materials in relation to standard operating procedures (SOP’s), maintaining quality and industry regulations and standards. A deep understanding of how this applies in a food manufacturing facility is required to support best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Planning, organizing and coordinating of training programs for new and existing employees ranging from SOPs, safety protocols, equipment operation, quality control procedures, culture and best practices.
- Regularly update training content to reflect changes in processes, equipment, or regulations.
- Understand the different training needs of stakeholders and AODA requirements, while utilizing this experience and knowledge to conduct training sessions using a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and e-learning modules.
- Monitor and assess retention, application, competency, and implementation of the training plan.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Operations stakeholders to ensure a seamless and enjoyable candidate experience from initial onboarding through training.
- Continuously monitor training metrics and consult with stakeholders to improve training effectiveness and efficiency.
- 85% travel to manufacturing plants mainly within southern Ontario is required.
Requirements:
- University Degree or College Diploma focusing on Human Resources Management/Training, Adult Education or Instructional Training (or related professional certification)
- Demonstrated effective training experience in a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 5 years as a training specialist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and safe manufacturing processes.
- Project Management experience is an asset.
- Prior training development addressing different learning styles and needs of adult learners.
- Strategic planning and assessment abilities while applying critical thinking to deliver culture changing initiatives working cross functionally with other departments.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and standards (CFIA, OHSA, HACCP, ETC)
- A strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories, with development and design practices that are compliant with AODA.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, to effectively convey training materials and instruction.
- Strong presentation skills for conducting training sessions.
- Attention to detail and project development.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams to develop best in class training which encompasses best practices, and support the needs identified within a gap analysis.
- Adaptable to adjust training methods based on the audience’s learning styles and needs.
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and flexible strategic thinking to address training challenges, and stakeholder implementation and comprehension.
- Effective Time Management.
