A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are looking for a Purchasing Analyst for our Corporate office in Scarborough. Reporting to the Sr. Corporate Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Analyst is responsible for ensuring that we are buying competitively and looking at the entire business strategically to ensure we are leveraging our total buying power.
Benchmark Purchasing Department effectiveness
Utilize and analyze spend data from Domo and PO system to find areas of cost savings opportunities
Develop and execute category assessments for major spend categories
Periodically validate key supplier pricing to ensure they are competitive
Track market price trends for key commodities/items
Ensure Purchasing Policy is being followed by sites/buyers
Develop short term and long term strategies for major spend categories
Conduct Purchasing research on areas of interest and focus
Check purchase orders for anomalies that could result in Atlantic paying more
Support Sr. Corporate Manager with initiatives as required
A qualified analyst with 5+ years’ experience
Experience in paper/packaging industry an asset
Strong analytical and investigative skills
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail and problem solving skills
Superior organizational skills and planning skills
Ability to work autonomously and with teams
Post-secondary education in accounting, business or supply chain
