We are currently seeking an experienced, compassionate, and reliable Developmental Services Worker (DSW) to support adults with developmental disabilities and complex care needs in the Toronto area.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centred care to adults with developmental disabilities.
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and hygiene.
- Support mobility, transfers, and repositioning using safe body mechanics and mechanical lifts, including Hoyer lifts.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting independence and dignity.
- Provide meaningful engagement, companionship, and community participation.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and professional environment for clients and their families.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW) or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years' experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
- Experience providing hands-on personal care in home, community, or residential settings.
- Demonstrated experience using Hoyer lifts, ceiling lifts, and other transfer equipment.
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, behavioural needs, acquired brain injury, or dual diagnoses is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, compassionate, patient, and professional.
Required Certifications
- Current First Aid & CPR (Level C)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent behavioural intervention training (preferred)
- Safe Lifting & Transfer Training
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- WHMIS (preferred)
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
