Adult Bereavement Coordinator
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Adult Bereavement Coordinator assesses referrals and needs of clients seeking bereavement support, provides ongoing support to bereaved clients, and assigns and supports volunteers in the delivery of grief and loss support programs. The Coordinator develops and implements support services in response to the recognized areas of need in the community and works in partnership with the Youth and Young Adult Bereavement Coordinator in the facilitation of the overall bereavement services program. The Coordinator also works closely with the fundraising team to raise awareness of grief support services, their impact on the community, and the need for ongoing financial support.
Key Responsibilities
Bereavement Services & Program Management
· Assess and maintain records on client referrals, needs assessments, and program participation
· Provide one-to-one emotional support (via in-person, phone or video conferencing methods) to individuals grieving the loss of a loved one
· Create, coordinate and evaluate adult grief and loss support services, including support groups, information packages, lending libraries, and community remembrance ceremonies
· Make referrals to additional bereavement resources services
· Attend meetings for the coordination of bereavement care
· Develop and deliver community bereavement education presentations and workshops
· Measure and assess the success of the programs and services, prepare reporting and evaluation metrics and a written annual report
· In conjunction with the fund-raising team, participate in grant submissions and reporting
· Attend events to raise awareness and funds for grief support services
Volunteer Management
· Support the development of a bereavement volunteer team that respects diversity and inclusion
· Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure delivery of bereavement services
· Organize regular team and volunteer meetings and volunteer events
· Monitor and assess volunteer engagement; perform volunteer evaluations
· Identify opportunities to enhance volunteer capacity and capabilities
· Maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of volunteer information
· Model CHS’s core values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality
· Demonstrate and follow all safety guidelines and procedures
Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in related field (e.g., psychology, therapeutic recreation, social work, etc.) or equivalent training and experience
· Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle – work can not be accomplished by public transit
· Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
· Recent related experience in bereavement or client support services, providing emotional support or counselling
· Comfort discussing difficult topics, including but not limited to death, dying and grief
· Commitment and passion for client service, community engagement as well as to diversity, inclusion, equity, and reconciliation
· Proficient in the use of word processing, databases, spreadsheets, e-mail, social media, presentations, in particular Microsoft Office

Working Conditions
· Intense, often emotionally charged environment
· May require long periods of sitting and computer work
· Work is at the Coquitlam office (2773 Barnet Hwy) and occasionally in the Tricities community for support groups and events. Routine work from home is not supported.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.74-$31.46 per hour
