Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Global Director, Engineering to lead our worldwide engineering initiatives. The Global Director, Engineering is responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all engineering functions across the organization's global operations. This position develops and executes engineering strategies that support business objectives, customer requirements, operational excellence, innovation, and profitable growth. The role leads multidisciplinary engineering teams, including product engineering, manufacturing engineering, program launch engineering, and advanced engineering activities, ensuring consistent standards, best practices, and technical excellence across all locations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field with equivalent experience. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (Canada) preferred.
Responsibilities
· Develop and execute the global engineering strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
· Establish and monitor engineering priorities, performance objectives, and long-term technology roadmaps
· Drive innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across all engineering functions
· Support organizational growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction through engineering excellence
· Direct and oversee engineering activities across multiple facilities and regions
· Serve as an engineering representative for OEM customers and key stakeholders
· Build strong relationships with customers to support business growth and retention
· Standardize engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and best practices globally
· Ensure effective utilization of engineering resources, budgets, and technical capabilities
· Lead, develop, and mentor engineering managers and technical professionals
Product Development and Launch Management
· Provide leadership for new product development and product lifecycle management activities
· Ensure successful execution of product launches from concept through production
· Oversee engineering change management processes
· Support product design optimization, and manufacturability
Continuous Improvement and Cost Management
· Lead value engineering, cost and waste reduction, and productivity improvement initiatives
· Establish engineering metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
· Ensure efficient utilization of departmental resources
· Monitor engineering spending to achieve financial objectives
Risk Management and Governance
· Identify, assess, and mitigate engineering-related risks
· Ensure engineering compliance with IATF requirements, CSR, and applicable regulatory requirements
· Ensure appropriate engineering controls and governance processes are established
· Maintain engineering standards, specifications, and technical documentation
Support business continuity and operational resilience planning
Health, Safety & Wellness
· Prioritize safety and comply with the Health and Safety Management System.
· Support risk reduction, hazard identification, and continuous improvement efforts.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and wellness legislation and KSR standards.
· Uphold and adhere to the KSR Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Environmental
· Promote the global Environmental Management System with a focus on footprint reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and KSR standards.
Experience
10+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams, engineering managers, and cross-functional technical professionals. Demonstrated experience leading global or multi-site engineering operations across multiple manufacturing facilities and regions. Experience establishing design, CAD and Engineering standards.
Pay: $150,000.00-$190,000.00 per year
