Reporting to the Field Resource or Manager the Survey Assistant is accountable for performing survey assignments in one or more of the resource, municipal, construction & engineering divisions.

This position will be located out of our Fort McMurray office and is required to complete field work, in or out of town, for projects as needed. Candidates need to be local to the Fort McMurray area or be willing to relocate.

Specific Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

Assists in the completion of field surveys
Operates survey equipment with supervision of Party Chief
Performs detailed map/plan interpretation with respect to survey assignment
Completes survey note keeping, data submission & survey sketches with supervision from Party Chief
Cleans and maintains survey equipment, tools & vehicles
Keeps the Party Chief informed as to progress and problems
Performs all field employee health and safety duties as identified in the company’s HSE program
Completes field surveying tasks for projects as needed

Technical diploma or certificate in Geomatics or related field
1 to 4 years related experience or a combination of relevant experience and training
Valid safety certificates such as, First Aid/CPR, CSTS, ATV Ridership, WHMIS, TDG, H2S, Bear Awareness
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Basic ability to operate survey equipment
Ability to work effectively as a part of a team
Ability to work out of town, in remote locations, for periods of time
