Husky is currently looking for an Operations Engineering Manager to join their Heavy Oil and Oil Sands Thermal department at their Lloydminster location.
The Operations Engineering Manager provides leadership to a team of operations and is accountable for optimizing the operational integrity and performance of the Thermal plants.

Specific responsibilities will include:
Lead and provide technical guidance to a team of operations engineers as they:
Optimize facility performance and troubleshoot issues (e.g. OTSG performance and heat integration)
Manage MOCs for chemical and process trials
Monitor plant capacities and alert stakeholders to the results
Support various operational integrity initiatives (e.g. RBIM)
Support various regulatory initiatives (e.g. Directive 17 and Directive 76)

Support and mentor the team to:
Increase their technical understanding of process/chemical engineering as it applies to their role
Communicate progress on initiatives
Set targets for use in performance contracts and strategic planning
Facilitate personal development
Provide input into strategic planning and staffing forecasts for the Operations Engineering team and the roles of the broader group

Work closely with stakeholders such as Operations, Maintenance, Project Engineering and Technical Services to support the business unit’s goals. Develop and implement strategies to expand the stakeholder base and gain alignment.
Provide periodic reporting for the team and share results with stakeholders

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering; Technologists with commensurate experience will also be considered
Registered Professional Engineer or Technologist (APEGA/APEGS or ASET/SASTT)
Valid Class 5 Driver's license
Minimum of 10 years' experience in process/chemical engineering
Minimum of 3 years' leadership experience
Familiar with government regulations, corporate policies and procedures.
Thermal SAGD experience
Ability to lead and support business initiatives and programs
Ability to optimize business practices; troubleshoot, research, recommend and implement business plans
Ability to influence processes and decision making; provide recommendation for improvement
Experience with Identifying opportunities and developing and implementing strategies to enhance stakeholder buy-in and alignment
Experience advocating/influencing regulatory change as well as regulatory compliance
Well-developed report writing, presentation preparation and delivery skills
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills as well as proven business sense
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop personnel into an effective team capable of meeting business objectives.
Experience in one or more of the following: Plant/Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Operations or Technical Services
