THE ROLE:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Sr. Accountant to support a growing private company with and multiple legal entities. Reporting to the VP Finance, this individual will take ownership of the accounting function while providing mentorship to a small accounting team. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the month-end close process across multiple legal entities, achieving targeted close timelines (BD3-BD5)
Prepare accurate financial statements, working papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and consolidated multi-entity financial reporting
Oversee compliance with GST/HST, provincial tax filings, and audit requirements
Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and coordinate year-end audit activities
Support the administration and ongoing optimization of Sage 50 and Excel-based consolidation models
Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting team members, including AP, AR, and payroll functions
Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, reporting, and efficiency
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises)

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
CPA designation or equivalent accounting experience; designated and non-designated candidates will be considered
Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes
Strong knowledge of ASPE financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support experience
Background working in multi-entity or consolidated accounting environments
Advanced Excel skills, including complex reconciliations and reporting models
Experience supporting audits and coordinating with external auditors
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements and establish structure
Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring or guiding accounting staff
Knowledge of Sage 50 or similar accounting systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in project-based, construction, job-costing, or percentage-of-completion accounting environments is an asset
