This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
The Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively within an inter-professional team, providing a holistic approach (addressing bio, psycho, social, cultural, and spiritual needs), and comprehensive care for individuals, families, groups, populations and communities across the continuum of care. The RN independently provides safe, competent, compassionate, ethical nursing care to all patients with predictable and unpredictable outcomes and all levels of complexity, and ensures goals and needs are prioritized and individualized. Using nursing knowledge, critical thinking and clinical judgement, the RN engages in independent, interdependent and dependent functions to provide healthcare focusing on comprehensive assessment, patient/family education, and coordination of care. These functions may be self-determined, or assigned by physician or nurse practitioner, other RN or as part of team consultation and planning.
Graduate from an approved School of Nursing
Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
Minimum of three (3) years critical care experience
Critical Care Nursing Program required, or equivalent
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate or willingness to take preferred
The ability to work independently and as an effective team member
Current Heart & Stroke BCLS required
Certification with Heart & Stroke in ACLS or willingness to successfully complete
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member required.
Demonstrated effective decision-making, critical thinking and problem solving skills in a pressure situation required.
Experience providing patient education to individuals and groups.
Commitment to complete current competencies in critical care nursing
Previous work attendance may be considered.
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Full Time, Short Assignment; 75 hours bi-weekly
Commencing as soon as possible; ending December 31, 2021

Shifts may include days, nights, weekends and holidays
$35.2108 - $41.4848 Hourly
$42.9366 hourly with 25 years of RN experience
