Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician I supports the safe and reliable operation of production, molding, automation, and facility equipment at the Amcor Brantford facility. This role supports injection molding, blow molding, and related manufacturing processes through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement while following all safety, quality, GMP, and food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform setup, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production equipment, molds, tooling, automation systems, and facility systems
- Support injection and blow molding operations to ensure safe, efficient equipment performance
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electromechanical systems
- Maintain and repair molds, tooling, and hot runner systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings
- Operate tool room equipment (milling machines, lathes, grinders, drills, polishing equipment)
- Complete maintenance records and documentation in the maintenance/QMS system
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and GMP requirements
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in required training
- Work overtime, weekends, shutdowns, or emergency call-ins as needed
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and safely working around industrial machinery and equipment.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support manufacturing and facility operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience (plastics, injection molding, blow molding, automation, or packaging preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Technical diploma, apprenticeship, millwright, machinist, electrical trade experience (asset)
Additional Assets
- Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems and Microsoft Office
