Clinical Research Coordinator

About the Role
MHCombiotic is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to support the planning, initiation, and execution of clinical studies in Calgary.
We are looking for someone with previous experience working in clinical research, hospitals, health care centres, academic medical centres, or clinical trial sites. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working within, or are familiar with, the Alberta Health Services environment and clinical research processes in Alberta.
The successful candidate will work closely with investigators, physicians, nurses, clinical sites, research teams, ethics boards, regulatory personnel, sponsors, and internal MHCombiotic team members.
This position is well suited to someone who is organized, comfortable working independently, and familiar with the day-to-day requirements of coordinating clinical studies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate clinical study activities from start-up through study completion
- Assist with study start-up, site activation, and study documentation
- Coordinate communication between investigators, clinical sites, sponsors, CROs, and internal team members
- Support Research Ethics Board submissions, amendments, renewals, and other required documentation
- Maintain study regulatory documents and essential study files
- Assist with patient recruitment, screening, enrollment, and study follow-up
- Coordinate study visits and ensure study procedures are completed according to protocol
- Maintain accurate source documentation, case report forms, and clinical trial records
- Enter and maintain study data in electronic data capture systems and clinical trial databases
- Assist with monitoring visits, audits, and study close-out activities
- Track study milestones, timelines, outstanding documents, and action items
- Work with hospital and health care teams to facilitate study implementation
- Help identify and resolve operational issues affecting study enrollment or execution
- Ensure study activities are completed according to applicable protocols, Good Clinical Practice, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience in clinical research, clinical trial coordination, or a related health care research role
- Experience working in a hospital, health care centre, academic medical centre, or clinical research site
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and study requirements
- Comfortable communicating with physicians, investigators, nurses, research personnel, and external partners
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice and clinical research documentation
- Experience with electronic clinical trial systems, databases, or electronic data capture platforms is preferred
Preferred Experience
The following experience is considered an asset:
- Previous experience with Alberta Health Services
- Familiarity with the Alberta clinical research environment
- Familiarity with AHS hospital systems and processes
- Experience with Connect Care and/or Alberta Netcare
- Experience with Research Ethics Board submissions
- Familiarity with IRISS, REMO, or similar research administration systems
- Experience working with Health Canada-regulated clinical studies
- Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device companies
- Experience interacting with CROs and clinical study monitors
- Medical device clinical trial experience
- Wound care, infectious disease, surgery, or hospital-based research experience
Education
A degree, diploma, certificate, or relevant experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Clinical research
- Nursing
- Health sciences
- Life sciences
- Biomedical sciences
- Health care
- Related scientific or clinical discipline
Equivalent practical clinical research experience will also be considered.
Compensation
$31,200–$90,000 per year
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, clinical research background, familiarity with Alberta Health Services, and relevant hospital or clinical trial experience.

- Some flexibility may be required depending on clinical study activities and site schedules
Work Location
Calgary, Alberta
Candidates should be based in Calgary or able to regularly attend Calgary-area hospitals, health care centres, and clinical research sites as required.
Pay: $32,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
