Front Desk Student Assistant- Art Gallery (Visitor Services)

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

Minimum Grade 10 and must be currently attending and/or returning to a secondary or post-secondary school
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of database management
Experience dealing with retail transactions
Interest in Art History or Studio Art an asset
Standard First Aid, CPR/AED an asset
Excellent customer relations skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision

Monitor public while in building (for security purposes);
Conduct retail sales from gift shop & art rental;
Facilitate registration of classes;
Act as reception/first point-in-contact person for incoming meetings, addressing public requests (re-directing to staff) and offer wayfinding;
Assists with updating memberships in database and processing welcome packages;
Perform other related duties as directed by Gallery Operations Coordinator, or designate.
Assists with updating programming and exhibition information on website, social media sites, external websites and listings locations;

Salary rate is $16.00 per hour as per Schedule "A" of the collective agreement. This is a 12 week 223 hours contract from October 8 to December 28, 2019. Scheduled 2 to 7 hour work shifts which will include weekends and alternate shift hours. May be required to work overtime. This position is funded through Young Canada Works.
