Overview:
The Quality Technologist is the go-to expert for scrap analysis and reduction. Working closely with the Quality Engineer, they uncover the root causes of scrap, seconds, and rework through meticulous analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). They implement effective solutions to minimize waste and boost efficiency. In addition to scrap analysis, the Quality Technologist collaborates with the Quality Engineer to establish robust quality systems and standards. They optimize inspection workflows, create cosmetic standard documents, and manage calibration programs. The Quality Technologist also assists with scheduled tasks like scrap and second review and can step in as a Quality Inspector or CMM/OGP programmer when needed. With their expertise and commitment to excellence, the Quality Technologist plays a crucial role in reducing scrap and continuously improving quality systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Evaluating scrap data and business impact in tandem with the Quality Engineer.

Launching RCA’s with a team from production.

Monitoring active RCA’s, ensuring actions are executed.

Coordinating with the Quality Engineer on RCA priorities and action plans.

Working with the Quality Engineer to build and document quality systems and processes.

Assisting the Quality Engineer with second and scrap evaluation.

Launching and monitoring a measuring tools calibration program.

Working with the Quality Engineer to establish and document cosmetic quality standards.

Building on existing quality training materials.
-
CMM and OGP (optical measuring system) programming as required.

Working as an inspector when required.
Knowledge and Skills:
-
A ‘Safety First’ attitude. PPE required on the shop floor.

Education: 3-year Technical College Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality control/quality assurance environment.

Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.

Deep understanding of GD&T and datums.

Experience and skill with a wide variety of measuring equipment.

Mid-level knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Can drive projects and tasks efficiently to completion.

Excellent problem-solving skills: detail oriented using a methodical approach.

Interpersonal and communication skills, with a ‘Can do’, positive attitude.

Self-starter with initiative. Does not need constant direction.

Able to work with and direct a small team on RCA’s as well as work alone on certain projects.

Ability to learn and adaptability are required: tasks and projects will evolve over time.

This work is conducted in both an office and Machine shop environment.
