Job Description:
The Electrical & Electronics Designer is a senior technical position responsible for the architecture, design, development, integration, testing, and commissioning of complete electrical and electronic systems for Arxtron’s custom automation and test equipment.
The designer is expected to independently translate customer and project requirements into robust electrical/electronic solutions and provide technical leadership to other members of the Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Concept Development
- Develop complete electrical/electronic architectures for automation and test systems.
- Translate functional requirements into practical electrical and electronic solutions.
- Evaluate alternative architectures based on performance, reliability, safety, cost, manufacturability, and schedule.
- Lead electrical concept development and design reviews.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Electrical & Electronics Design
- Independently design complex control systems, power distribution, electrical interfaces, instrumentation, and electronic systems.
- Develop complete schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable systems, I/O architecture, and interconnection documentation.
- Design and review electronic circuits and interfaces as required.
- Select components and establish appropriate technical specifications.
- Perform design calculations, verification, and technical reviews.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements and applicable standards.
Automation & Test Systems
- Lead electrical design for custom automation, programming, and manufacturing test systems.
- Interface electrical systems with mechanical equipment, sensors, actuators, motors, pneumatics, robotics, instrumentation, and software.
- Establish electrical interfaces with PLCs, industrial controllers, data-acquisition systems, and test platforms.
- Work closely with Software and Test Engineering teams to develop integrated systems.
Testing & Commissioning
- Lead electrical/electronic testing, debugging, integration, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, electronic, controls, and system-integration problems.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support factory acceptance testing and customer-site commissioning.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide technical direction to junior designers.
- Review electrical/electronic designs and documentation.
- Establish and improve electrical design standards and best practices.
- Mentor junior and intermediate team members.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management.
Project & Customer Support
- Take ownership of electrical deliverables from concept through customer acceptance.
- Participate in customer technical discussions and design reviews.
- Support proposals and technical quotations.
- Coordinate with suppliers and external technical partners.
- Provide technical input to project schedules, risks, and resource requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in automation, manufacturing equipment, test systems, or custom machinery.
- Experience in electrical/electronics circuit design.
- Experience with Solidworks and EDA tools (e.g., Solidworks, Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, KiCad)
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits.
- Strong experience with electrical schematics, control systems, wiring, power distribution, and system integration.
- Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic components and industrial automation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop complete electrical system architectures.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Solidwork for electrical schematic drawings.
- Experience with PCB design and layout review.
- Experience in testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA principles.
- Exposure to relevant industry standards and certifications.
- Experience with NI instrument and software.
- Experience with automotive communication protocols(CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).

Work Environment
