Senior Financial Analyst

We're hiring a Senior Financial Analyst for our client, a successful Cannabis company. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this individual will work cross-functionally with the Finance Department team members assisting in the preparation of quarter-end close, financial reporting & analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, ICFR compliance, as well as standalone and consolidated financial statements. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of IFRS, experience dealing with accounting issues for investment-focused companies, and a good understanding of valuation issues.

About this role

Responsible for aspects of the quarter-end close process, including preparation and maintenance of various investment valuation working papers, supporting schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and related analytics;
Maintain stand-alone corporate and subsidiary ledgers and prepare quarterly consolidation;
Liaise with portfolio companies to collect, analyze, and appropriately consolidate financial information;
Oversee the control structure of the organization to ensure accuracy of results and safeguarding of Company assets;
Design and test new internal controls across various business processes as the Company expands its internal control program;
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, and related notes and disclosures;
Assist in the preparation of management discussions and analysis;
Manage the annual audit and quarterly review processes, and work with the external auditor to resolve any issues;
Assist with accounting due diligence for M&A activities;
Manage the Company's procure-to-pay process;
Assist with the treasury function by monitoring the Company's cash position and cash management initiatives;
Liaise with auditors by addressing inquiries and providing appropriate documents in a timely manner;
Assist senior management to continuously drive improvements in operations by completing special projects as needed.

About you

Qualified CPA with 2-4 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably from a Big Four Accounting Firm;
Strong knowledge of IFRS and its application;
Self-starter that can work proactively;
Great attention to detail in order to ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data;
Have a previous complex consolidation experience (non-controlling interest calculation, equity accounting for joint venture and proportional consolidation, rate regulated accounting, consolidation in multiple currencies);
Knowledge of financial instruments is an asset;
Experience working or auditing in a SOX/ICFR environment;
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
