The Manager leads a team of Employee Relations professionals in providing regional planning, integration and services for corporate Employment Policies and Programs across all bargaining units and management. This includes recruitment and selection and related legislated programs such as Employment Equity, corporate programs such as the Scholarship program, and the Workforce Management program.
Acts as key regional advisor on employment programs and recruitment matters to the Human Resources community, in particular, the business partners (HRBPs). Collaborates with leaders, key managers and all areas of the HR team to develop and drive HR strategies enabling Canada Post to attract, develop and retain top talent. Advises management and employees on strategic and tactical HR issues and ensures that the field’s unique needs are reflected in the delivery of HR processes, tools and services.
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Regional Employee Relations.
Manages, coaches and provides guidance and leadership to a diverse team of professionals engaged in delivering a broad range of Employment Policies and Programs.
Fosters a collaborative work environment, where team members are engaged, motivated and committed to their mandate and objectives. Provides development opportunities for team members and ensures solid and effective understanding and alignment of individual and team goals with regional business priorities.
Provides employee relations expertise and insight to major projects impacting in the employment life cycle (hire to retire). Contributes field expertise and insight to corporate initiatives to ensure expectations are aligned with regional capabilities. Embodies and promotes the Corporate Leadership Behaviours and Values; and practices the leadership habits when dealing with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
Identifies employee relations change management issues and collaborates with HR colleagues to develop strategies on behalf of business leaders.
Manages the workforce management program at the regional level and advises HRBPs on employee separation issues with their respective clients. Ensures all Corporate and legislated requirements are met and collective agreements respected.

Manages the regional integration and deployment of Corporate Employment Policies and Programs, and ensures these policies and processes are effectively implemented. Provides regional feedback and recommendations for future program improvements. Promotes awareness and identifies opportunities to improve compliance with Employment Equity and employment and recruitment-related Legislated Programs, policies and processes.
Manages the provision of end-to-end recruitment, staffing, workforce management and employment policy-related program services to meet the needs of the region. Coaches and advises HRBPs and other key stakeholders on the interpretation and application of these programs.
Works with business leaders and HR Business Partners to align business priorities with labour needs; based on clients' recruitment forecasts and organization structure needs, develops and implements recruitment tactics and plans and supports orgnization design to meet operational requirements. Ensures the timely and effective planning, integration and execution for major recruitment initiatives.
Maintains a network of internal and external contacts to regularly benchmark and remain current on future trends and developments related to government standards, industry practices, legislation, guidelines and programs related to HR. Participates in HR associations and events, in order to remain current and promote the CPC brand.
Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience
2 or more years’ experience managing people
One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset
Other Candidate Requirements
Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
Designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (e.g. Finance & Engineering)
Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
Strong oral and written communication skills
