The Role:
In collaboration with other multi-disciplinary team members of the URS program, the Behaviour Consultant conducts Functional Behaviour Assessments, designs effective behaviour intervention plans, and conducts analysis of behavioural data for clients with an ASD and/or dual diagnosis and their families, caregivers and educators.
What your day looks like:
Overall the Behavioural Consultant is responsible for facilitating parent-training programs, workshops and hands-on coaching in addition to providing direct treatment to children and youth with an ASD in group settings to include, but not limited to, the following:
·Design and implement individualized ABA-based intervention programs for individuals diagnosed with an ASD and/or other Developmental Disabilities to include:
o Conducting assessment activities
o Ongoing monitoring and evaluation
o Research and analysis of best practices
o Designing data collection protocols and interpret data to make data-based decisions relative to each individual’s program
o Collaborating with third parties (Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists etc.)
o Meet and obtain regular feedback from Clinical Supervisor; review client load (prepares supports and materials)
·Provide consultation to families, behaviour mediators and/or other related parties for on-going ABA-based intervention programs to include:
o Designs and facilitates training, coaching and mediation
o Perform functional assessments and design positive behaviour support plans
o Provide implementation support for positive behaviour support plans
o Lead/Participate in service team meetings in the family home, as well as participate in clinical meetings with relevant professionals
·Coaching and providing direction to ABA Facilitators, as required to include but not limited to:
o Provide coaching on implementation of individualized ABA strategies as outlined in client behaviour intervention plans
o Provide direction pertaining to the making of individualized materials as outlined in the behaviour intervention plan
·Present parent training workshops or other presentations to community agencies, when required
·Have financial accountability/target as it pertains to fee for service client, where required.
Participate in meetings with external stakeholders/partners as necessary.
What you bring to the role:
·Masters’ degree with Certificate of Registration for a Behaviour Analyst with College of Psychologists of Ontario
·A minimum of 2 years’ direct experience working with individuals with an ASD
·Experience assisting in the design, implementation, and monitoring of individualized ABA-based intervention programs for individuals diagnosed with ASD and/or dual diagnoses
·Experience training parents, behaviour mediators, and/or other related parties
·Experience assisting with assessment activities related to the need for behavioural intervention
·Experience conducting functional assessments and designing positive behaviour support plans with families, schools and/or community programs
·Demonstrated problem solving and judgment skills
·Experience mentoring junior staff
·Good communication skills; experience in presenting to large and small groups
·Excellent writing skills with previous experience in writing clinical reports
·Applied knowledge of community-based service delivery systems
·Bilingualism an asset
·Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
·Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19
Working Conditions:
·Ability to work independently
·Off-site client requirements (travel to client homes and community)
·Outside normal working hours to meet client needs when necessary
Salary: $72,843.94 - $81,054.49
