Position Summary
The Associate Director of Business Development is a strategic leader who plays a key role in advancing IBU’s global diversity targets through innovative business development and partnerships. This role reports to the VP of Student Recruitment & Strategic Partnerships and involves developing and implementing strategies to expand IBU’s presence and attract a diverse student body, with a focus on key regions: Southeast Asia (SEA), Latin America (LATAM), the Middle East, Eurasia, South Asia, and Africa. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for creating long-lasting partnerships while maintaining high ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic student recruitment plans, including systems, policies and procedures, to lead, train and empower recruitment staff to achieve enrolment goals.
- Develop and implement data-driven, region-specific business development strategies to meet diversity and enrollment goals in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Eurasia, South Asia, and Africa.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with education institutions, agencies, and government bodies to expand IBU’s reach and drive business development in target regions.
- Support IBU’s recruitment operations through Apply Board’s exclusive territories, working collaboratively to maximize partnerships and enrollment efforts.
- Lead initiatives to create new institutional and agency partnerships, including managing and onboarding third-party representatives.
- Conduct market analysis and competitive research to identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and diversification, while mitigating risks and challenges.
- Represent IBU at international and domestic events, conferences, and fairs to promote the institution and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and oversee global recruitment events and business development activities to support the university’s enrollment and diversity targets.
- Ensure compliance with regional legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, working with internal and external stakeholders to address any issues.
- Track key performance indicators and metrics related to business development and diversity recruitment goals, preparing regular reports for senior management.
- Lead and manage the onboarding, training, and development of staff involved in international business development.
- Collaborate across departments to align business development strategies with overall institutional goals and diversity objectives.
- Other related duties as required.
The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, international relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, student recruitment, or related areas, with a focus on growing diversity in educational settings.
- Experienced strategic leader with a proven record of developing and supporting staff to exceed enrolment expectations in diverse markets through business development activities.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with educational institutions, agencies, and government entities in international markets, particularly SEA, LATAM, the Middle East, and Eurasia.
- Experience meeting targets, generating new business and building/maintaining client relationships in existing and new market sectors.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with a strong ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with managing agent partner networks, B2B partnerships, in-country representatives and developing new third-party student recruitment and institutional partnerships.
- Experience with and willingness to travel extensively internationally.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to seek creative solutions to multi-faceted problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an environment that embraces cultural diversity and acts with ethics, accountability, and integrity.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and respect for the individual in all interactions with others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
- Willingness and flexibility to be available to work days, evenings, and weekends, as necessary.
