The Engineering Lab and Service Supervisor plays a crucial role within the manufacturing team, overseeing daily operations of the engineering lab to ensure efficient testing, analysis, and product development.
This position also involves delivering technical support and service to customers. The ideal candidate will maintain lab equipment, uphold safety standards, and collaborate with diverse teams to offer comprehensive product support.
This role demands a solid technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities to uphold product quality and customer contentment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:
- Operate and maintain test equipment to analyze light fixtures and electronic components
- Write technical reports, specifications, control schedules, and ensure compliance with lab standards
- Conduct and oversee various tests to verify product performance and safety
- Inspect and evaluate incoming components for quality and specifications
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Commercial teams, perform other related duties as assigned by management
Education:
- Relevant post secondary experience (Electrical Engineering) is required
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
- Understanding of light spectrum test equipment (Integration Sphere, Goniophotometer)
- Knowledgeable of lighting specifications and tests such as IES test, TM-30, LM-79, LM-80, L70, and UGR
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems
- Prior, Class 2 and Class 1 lighting test laboratory experience such as dielectric testing, temperature testing, and ground impedance tests
Skills:
- Proficient computer skills with MS Office and AutoCad
- Creative thinking skills to identify “out of the box” solutions to challenging situations
- Passion for creating processes, system improvement, and change management
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong desire to contribute to the team effort
- Strong decision making and analytical ability
Base Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 per year
- Salary based on experience and qualifications
