Production Manager, Semi-Solid Manufacturing
Location: Coquitlam, BC (on-site) Type: Full-time, permanent Base salary: $70,000 to $100,000 (commensurate with experience)
About the role
We are an established pharmaceutical ingredients company setting up our own semi-solid manufacturing operation, and we are looking for a hands-on Production Manager to help bring it to life. This is a rare opportunity to shape a facility from the ground up and then run it.
You will start by helping oversee the buildout and commissioning of a new production space, working alongside our engineering consultants and equipment suppliers. Once operational, you will own day-to-day manufacturing: running batches, managing a small production team, and maintaining quality and output. If you want ownership, variety, and the chance to build something rather than inherit it, this role is for you.
What you will do
During setup:
- Work with consultants, contractors, and suppliers on facility buildout, equipment selection, and installation
- Review equipment specifications and layouts against production requirements
- Help plan workflow, utilities, and production zones for efficiency and cleanliness
- Support equipment commissioning and initial validation batches
In ongoing production:
- Manage daily manufacturing of creams, gels, and other semi-solid products
- Lead, train, and schedule a small team of production operators
- Maintain batch records, standard operating procedures, and in-process documentation
- Oversee in-house quality control testing and coordinate outsourced microbiological testing
- Manage raw material and finished goods inventory in coordination with our team
- Uphold GMP standards and a clean, safe, well-organized production environment
What we are looking for
Required:
- Experience in semi-solid manufacturing (creams, lotions, gels, emulsions, or ointments) in a pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutraceutical, or personal care setting
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Hands-on familiarity with production equipment such as jacketed mixing vessels, high-shear mixers, and filling equipment
- Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail
- Ability to lead and develop a small team
Strongly preferred:
- Experience with facility setup, equipment commissioning, or process scale-up
- Familiarity with emulsions, thickeners, preservatives, and formulation handling
- Understanding of Health Canada requirements for manufacturing
Nice to have:
- Background in transdermal or compounding pharmacy products
- Experience writing or improving SOPs and batch records
Why join us
- Build a facility and process from the start, then run it your way
- Direct impact and real ownership, not a cog in a large operation
- Stable, growing company with an established product line and customer base
- Long-term opportunity with room to grow as the operation scales
How to apply
Please send your resume and a short note about your relevant experience, particularly any facility setup or semi-solid production work you have led.
Pay: $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- On-site parking
