Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The Sessional Lecturer will teach a one-half credit online course, HESA 3005-Budget Management in Health Systems in the Diploma in Emergency Health Services Management and the Diploma in Health Services Administration programs during the fall term (September-December 2026).
Course Description:
Budget Management in Health Systems will introduce the student to financial resource management in the health care sector. This course will introduce the student to managerial accounting concepts. Topics include preparing, managing, and evaluating department budgets; payment systems; and fiscal accountability. Students will be introduced to budgeting, financial planning, and cost control methods used within health systems, to manage financial resources effectively.
Responsibilities include: all aspects of teaching and administering the course; course preparation including course content for lectures, tests/assignments/exam preparation and evaluation/marking of student course work, as well as, providing tutorial support to students. The Sessional Lecturer is the Professor of Record for this course. The position reports to the Director of the School.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Master degree in health administration or business administration, or relevant equivalent is required along with a minimum of five years work experience in the health sector. Previous teaching experience is a strong asset. Experience with Brightspace is preferred. Professional accounting designation preferred.
Salary Range/Pay Rate
Per CUPE Collective Agreement
