Northern Gateway Public Schools invites applications for a Full-time (1.0 FTE) Education Assistant at Onoway Jr/Sr High School, Onoway, Alberta.
Successful candidate responsibilities:

Under supervision of the Inclusive Education Facilitator, and classroom teacher, the successful candidate will provide educational support to students
Preference will be given to candidates who:
-
have a current Health Care Aide Certificate and First Aid Certificate
-
are able to provide personal and hygiene care to students; this may include food preparation, dressing, grooming and/or toileting
-
are able to assist student with mobilization (walking, guidance in hallway, or stairs)
-
are able to manipulate assisted devices if necessary (braces, mechanical lifts, fasteners on clothing, seatbelts)
-
are able to support students with potential physical or medical needs, mental health, social emotional needs
- will establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and staff
-
work collaboratively and cooperatively with the teacher and other support staff in the classroom/school
-
understand and carry out both oral and written directions
-
respect and demonstrate confidentiality, and professionalism with all staff, students, parents and community members

are able to help students with mobility or motor skills as instructed by the Occupational or Physical Therapist and teacher
-
accompany student on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to student care and comfort
-
Training can be provided where needed to the successful candidate.
