The team

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking an Events and Marketing Specialist. The position will report to the Marketing and Business Development Manager in the Calgary office, is part of the Canadian Marketing and Business Development team and will work closely with the Events and Marketing Specialists across the country, and other Client Services team members.

The role

The Events and Marketing Specialist will execute internal and external events outlined in the marketing and business development plans, and support ad hoc and overflow events across the country, as directed by the Marketing and Business Development Manager.

This role requires excellent writing, organizational and time management skills as you will be responsible for drafting invitations and managing multiple time-sensitive projects on an on-going basis. Strong interpersonal skills are also essential as the position is often in direct communication with both the internal and external clients.

You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues locally, nationally and globally to plan and execute on nationally-driven programs.

Responsibilities

Manage, plan, and execute internal firm events and external client-facing events
Research, develop, plan and execute client events based on specific objectives that are in line with the firm’s strategic direction, including the development of events’ concepts and budgets, negotiation of contracts, timeline development, invitations, onsite staffing, registration, etc.
Populate campaign process tools including campaign briefs, critical paths and program budgets
Compose and send out invitations via Vuture, manage RSVPs and reporting, and prepare feedback surveys as appropriate via Cvent
Attend events, seminars and receptions to ensure clients and guests are greeted and the logistics and details of the event are followed through seamlessly
Ensure best practices and consistency among events; adhere to best practices and consistency as part of the Marketing and Business Development team
Manage the event mailbox and telephone line and respond to enquiries
Ensure compliance with communication policies, procedures and brand standards
Work closely with internal clients and the rest of the Client Services teams
Skills and qualifications

University diploma and/or post-secondary studies in communications, business administration and/or related diploma in event management
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a professional services firm environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent multi-tasking and analytical skills with the ability to meet deadlines within a fast paced work environment
Positive attitude and approach to each task
Ability to initiate action and work both independently and in a team environment
Quick problem solver
Strong attention to detail
Flexibility in scheduling work hours to accommodate the timing of events, which may include working early mornings, evenings and weekends
Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
