Summary
Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer the purpose of this role is to ensure a variety of technical tasks are implemented and maintained to support safe and efficient mining operations.
The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.0 million ounces of silver in 2024 as the mine ramps up production.
The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Collect and perform QA/QC testing on shotcrete and cemented rockfill (CRF).

Conduct weekly ventilation surveys and identify problem areas to ensure adequate ventilation is achieved and maintained.

Update and issue development and production driving layouts.

Assist with drill and blast design for longhole stoping blocks.

Generate weekly production schedules and reports.

Assist with surface and underground surveying duties.

Compile data from various sources to generate maps.

Mark the location of new works and set up reference points as benchmarks.

Prepare topographic maps, aerial photo mosaics, and other land survey products.

Analyze and conduct quality assurance on surveys.

Perform weekly ventilation surveys and update the associated ventilation layouts.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education (one of the following)
-
Post-secondary diploma in geomatics or land survey technology or a combination of high school and experience as a member of survey part underground.

Mining Technician/Mining Technician Diploma

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Experience using Deswik considered an asset.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Yukon resident preferred.

Maintaining good housekeeping standards
Employees will be frequently exposed to; outside weather conditions, snow conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is occasionally loud. This position will require you to work a rotating shift of 14 days on and 14 days off and you will be provided camp housing and meals.
