We are looking for an experienced Corporate Services Paralegal with CORES Level II located downtown Edmonton.
The successful candidate is a self-starter with high attention to detail, a sense of urgency, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly while supporting busy practices.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM (37.5 hours/week) with the possibility of some remote days, depending on the needs of the department.
You will demonstrate elevated efficiency and accuracy while meeting deadlines and providing outstanding customer service for both internal and external clients.
Deliverables:
- Document preparation related to incorporation, organization, amendments, continuances, dissolutions, and amalgamations
- The filing of extra-provincial registrations and updates documents
- Document preparation for non-profit entities including incorporations, continuance/transitions, organizations, amendments, and dissolutions under Part 9 of the Companies Act, Societies
Act and Not-For-Profit Corporations Act
- Document preparation related to share transactions including issuance of share certificates, and updates registers
- Minute Book reviews and ensuring documentation is current
- Filing a variety of corporate document via the Corporate Registry Systems (CORES) (Levels I – II, as applicable).
- All aspects of case, matter, calendar, and document management as a paralegal on a matter team as required
- Effectively liaising with lawyers on various projects and files
- Interaction with outside entities (i.e. government agencies, vendors, and other law firms) to gather information or coordinate activities as required
- Firm and department expectations of billing practices and targets
You possess:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relative experience with CORES Level II preferred (equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered)
- Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct
- Curious mind that learns quickly, then retains & applies the learning
- Experience with electronic database programs, including ALF (Worldox and 3E Elite are assets)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High organization, attention to detail, and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Ability to independently organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with a high degree of personal initiative
- Handling of confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
- Effective collaboration & efficiency as a part of a team
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills
- Adaptation to changing priorities within a high-volume work environment
- Possesses critical thinking skills with a pro-active mindset
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English with solid grammar skills (additional language skills are an asset)
