Job Opportunity: First Cook
We're seeking an experienced and reliable Camp Chef/Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be working at a well-maintained remote camp in the Fort St. John area, preparing daily meals for the camp crew. This position is ideal for a Chef or Cook who enjoys working independently, takes pride in preparing quality meals, and thrives in a camp environment.
Transportation to and from the camp will be provided by Macenna from Fort St. John. Candidates are responsible for their own transportation to our Fort St. John office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare exceptional meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring the highest culinary standards.
- Ensure all meals are prepared to a high standard with a focus on quality, nutrition, and presentation.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal requests as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
- Complete daily and weekly inventory records and required paperwork.
- Manage food ordering and inventory control.
- Follow all health, safety, and food-handling regulations and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience.
- Previous remote camp cooking experience is required.
- Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of camp meal service.
- Current Food Safe Certification required.
- Current WHMIS Certification required.
- Current First Aid Certification is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- A positive attitude and genuine passion for cooking, baking, and hospitality.
Candidates with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for cooking and baking will be given preference. While we encourage applicants from the Fort St. John area, we are open to receiving resumes from those outside the region, provided you are willing to cover your own transportation costs.
Job Details:
- Location: Remote camp near Fort St. John, BC
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts
- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience
- Overtime Pay: As applicable
Application Requirements:
- Local Fort St. John candidates are preferred with temporary positions
- Minimum 3 years of cooking experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of camp experience required.
- Required Certifications: Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent.
- Preferred: Valid Driver's License.
- Willingness to travel: 100% (required).
