Job Description
The House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations (PPO) is currently looking to staff multiple Cook positions.
Food services provide various hospitality services to Parliamentarians and their employees, House Administration employees and visitors to the Hill. These services are offered by the Parliamentary Dining Room and cafeterias located in different buildings on the Hill.
The Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of food for an assigned station within the Food Production Facility or parliamentary finishing kitchen/food outlets serving clients in a first-class main dining room, catering services for special events such as banquets, Cabinet meetings, MP receptions, Senators' and Speakers' events; and cafeterias.
The role requires that the incumbent work weekends and evenings, and at times extended hours and in multiple locations.
The purpose of this posting is to staff the position of Cook on a seasonal/on-call/determinate basis (temporary). Hourly Rate $27.20 to $34.41.
**For seasonal/on-call basis, the hours of work can vary between 15 to 35 hours. The needs are determined according to the parliamentary sessions. Work periods are from mid-September to mid-December, late January to late June. Operational requirements are interrupted during the summer months and between parliamentary sessions.

Training and development opportunities
Qualifications
Education:
-
Official training, apprenticeship or completed culinary program OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Experiences:
- Minimum of three (3) years of pertinent experience in high-end and large volume food production;

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in food preparation, modern cooking methods and presentation.
Asset:
-
Completion of a basic health and safety course and certification under the Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP).
