Position Overview and Requirements
The Planning Department of the Township of Russell is currently seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position.
Under the direction of the Manager of Planning, the Municipal Planner is responsible for processing requests related to zoning amendments, site plans, subdivision plans, and drafting relevant planning and development policies. This role ensures that safety, quality, and efficiency are upheld throughout the planning process and that on-going projects are monitored. Additionally, the Planner is responsible for preparing reports, following up on internal and external communications related to the projects, as well as preparing research projects.
The Planner works with other professional disciplines and municipal authorities to deliver high-quality services to our clients and consultants and will represent the Planning Department at various committees on issues related to planning.
Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:
- Post-secondary education in Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a municipal or private environment in the field of urban planning.
- Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and set priorities effectively.
- Excellent organizational, communication, research, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well in a team environment.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
Language Requirements
Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in both French and English.
Compensation
The salary, based on a 35 hour workweek, is set between $76,113 and $94,932 per year and includes an excellent benefits package, a pension plan, as well as free access to the Sports Dome Training Centre.
