Position Summary
Windsor Heart Institute is seeking a reliable, efficient, and patient-focused Clinical Assistant to support a busy outpatient cardiology practice.
The Clinical Assistant prepares patients and their medical records before the cardiologist enters the examination room. The objective is to ensure that each patient’s history, preliminary documentation, relevant results, and draft assessment and plan are organized so the cardiologist can focus directly on practicing medicine.
This position is suitable for candidates with a strong clinical foundation, including graduates of nursing or medical programs from Canada or any other country. Cardiology experience is an asset but is not required, as comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided.

Qualifications and Skills
- Education in nursing, medicine, or another closely related clinical field from Canada or another country.
- A strong foundation in adult health assessment, medical terminology, pharmacology, laboratory results, and clinical documentation.
- International medical graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is preferred for applicants with a nursing background but is not required for the Clinical Assistant position.
- Applicants who are not registered with the applicable Ontario regulatory college must work exclusively under the Clinical Assistant title and within the duties authorized for this position.
- Previous experience in cardiology, internal medicine, primary care, or another patient-facing clinical environment is an asset.
- Experience using electronic medical records is preferred.
- Strong typing, organization, prioritization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn Elari Health and use it accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to recognize potentially urgent clinical information and escalate it promptly.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Professional, respectful, and reassuring patient interaction.
- Ability to receive feedback, learn quickly, and adapt to physician preferences and clinic workflows.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Compensation and Benefits
- Starting compensation of CA$30.00–CA$35.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated capability.
- Potential progression up to CA$40.00 per hour as the employee becomes fully trained, consistently performs the complete role, and takes on the full expected scope. (40 hours per week)
- Participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, subject to plan eligibility.
- Clinical training and direct mentorship from an experienced cardiologist.
- Opportunity to develop advanced knowledge of outpatient cardiology, diagnostic testing, and cardiovascular care.
Progression to a higher rate is based on demonstrated competence, sustained performance, operational requirements, and management approval; it is not automatic.
