Position Summary
We are currently hiring compassionate and dependable caregivers with knowledge and experience supporting clients living with dementia. We are looking for full time avaliablilty. This position involves providing one-on-one in-home care while family members are away, ensuring the client's safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate is patient, calm, observant, and experienced in delivering person-centered dementia care.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one supervision and companionship in the client's home while family members are away.
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients living with dementia using person-centered care techniques.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to dementia-related behaviours using redirection and de-escalation strategies.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities and conversation to promote cognitive stimulation.
- Prepare meals, snacks, and assist with feeding as required.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention.
- Complete light housekeeping related to the client's care.
- Monitor the client's physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being and promptly report any changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow individualized care plans.
Qualifications
- Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience caring for clients with dementia is required.
- Knowledge of dementia care best practices, behaviour management, redirection techniques, and person-centered care.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Previous home care experience is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain one).
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered assets.
