Accountable to the Manager, Engineering, the Maintenance Technician performs a multitude of preventative maintenance tasks ensuring the smooth operation of Lakeridge Health facilities and plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for:
- Inspecting and repairing of equipment and systems including directly assisting with all trade functions;
- Responsible for specialized projects, renovations and construction trade work utilizing their certified multi-skilled expertise;
- Performing programmed maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures including; inspection, calibration, adjustment, repairing or replacing components;
- Replacing burned out lights;
- Maintaining HVAC systems and associated equipment;
- Performing routine maintenance such as service plumbing, inspecting/adjusting pumps and motors, maintaining equipment logs while troubleshooting problems with architectural finishes, piping systems, electromechanical equipment, assisting in service of refrigeration equipment, procuring supplies, building exterior, fabricating metal;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a two-year diploma program in building systems maintenance, such as Building Systems Engineering Technician (BTS);
SKILLS:
- Expert knowledge of equipment repairs, utilizing power tools such as (but not limited to); drills (hand and pedestal), grinders (hand and pedestal), wire brushes and band saws;
- Proven experience with interpreting blue prints , building automation systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, clutches, brakes and lubrication;
- 3-5 years of experience with various types of flooring and ceiling installation;
- Ability to understand and assist with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning;
- Ability to erect work platforms and scaffolding;
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to ensure good working relationships;
- Previous experience within a healthcare environment, preferred;
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction within a team environment;
- Physically capable of bending, stooping, crawling, walking, climbing stairs, pushing and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Must have a satisfactory performance record;
