The Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre at the Trillium Health Partners Credit Valley Hospital is seeking a 6 month temporary full-time Medical Physicist who will work in collaboration with the Medical Physics team to provide clinical support. The Credit Valley Hospital is a teaching hospital of University of Toronto, and the radiation oncology program is recognized by its high quality, high efficiency and innovations in safety and patient-centered care. You are an experienced or highly trained Medical Physicist who demonstrates passion and innovation for advancing Medical Physics.
The Radiation Treatment program of the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre has 6 radiation treatment suites and 2 CT Simulation suites. The Radiation Treatment program is a fully integrated electronic program. The Cancer Centre currently has 4 Varian TrueBeam units, 2 of them with HD MLC, and 2 Clinac iX units which will be replaced to TrueBeam units in 2020. All 6 units are capable of state-of-the art IMRT, IGRT and VMAT (RapidArc) technology including small field VMAT. Also 2 Philips Big Bore Brilliance CT simulators capable of 4DCT and DIBH. A fully networked infrastructure for treatment planning on Varian Eclipse stations with Citrix access for seamless treatment planning and delivery. The Varian ARIA oncology information system provides electronic data for Radiation Oncology. Current clinical programs also include SBRT, Linac and Cone based Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Brainlab), as well as a state-of-the-art Brachytherapy suite (Elekta Nucletron, Flexitron afterloader).
Medical Physics is integrated in the Radiation Treatment program in relation to its clinical, education and research mandate as defined by the mission and objectives of Cancer Care Ontario and Trillium Health Partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for all clinical and technical aspects of the medical physics program as well as being a team player
The Medical Radiation Physics team currently includes 11 physicists, 4 physics associates, 5 engineering technologists, as well as a shared administrative assistant; all of whom report to the Head of Medical Radiation Physics. An active Medical Physics Residency Program (one position) is supported through affiliation with University of Toronto DRO CAMPEP program. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in clinical, educational and research and development activities of the Medical Physics Department. Clinical activities include acceptance testing and commissioning of new linac and equipment, quality assurance, and clinical treatment planning and delivery support. All physicists at Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre are active leaders in clinical and technical improvement of the radiation program.
Graduate degree in Medical Physics, PhD preferred
Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency or equivalent
Membership in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or equivalent – preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Satisfactory attendance and performance required
