We provide HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical services throughout Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Manitoba.
Based: La Ronge, Saskatchewan (Travel throughout Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba required)
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of mechanical construction projects including plumbing, heating, HVAC, electrical coordination, and related construction activities. The Project Manager oversees projects from estimating and contract award through commissioning and project close-out while maintaining Abben's commitment to quality workmanship, safety, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial projects simultaneously.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Monitor project progress, costs, productivity, and profitability.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Client Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, consultants, engineers, and owners.
- Conduct regular project meetings.
- Provide progress reports and resolve project issues promptly.
- Maintain strong customer relationships throughout each project.
Financial Management
- Prepare project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Review contracts and ensure compliance.
- Track labour productivity and material costs.
- Approve invoices and purchase orders.
- Prepare progress billings and manage change orders.
- Maximize project profitability while maintaining quality standards.
Field Operations
- Work closely with Site Supervisors and Forepersons.
- Schedule crews and coordinate project resources.
- Conduct site visits and quality inspections.
- Assist with technical problem-solving and project planning.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Estimating & Procurement
- Assist in preparing project estimates and tenders.
- Source materials and negotiate with suppliers.
- Coordinate equipment rentals and deliveries.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Leadership
- Mentor field supervisors and project coordinators.
- Promote teamwork and professional development.
- Support recruitment and workforce planning.
- Foster a positive safety culture.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Plumber/Gasfitter, Mechanical Engineering Technologist, Engineering Degree, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience in mechanical construction.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems.
- Experience managing commercial and institutional projects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, including remote communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP designation (asset).
- Gold Seal Certification (asset).
- Experience with Indigenous community projects.
- Experience managing fly-in or remote construction projects.

Reporting To
Operations Manager and General Manager
Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
