Zafarro Restoration Inc. is a Canadian restoration contractor specializing in building envelope restoration, concrete repair, waterproofing, masonry restoration, balcony rehabilitation, and underground parking garage restoration. We work on residential and commercial high-rise buildings throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions.
We are looking for motivated Civil Engineering students who want to gain real-world experience in the restoration and rehabilitation of existing structures.
Position Overview:
This internship provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced project managers and site supervisors on high-rise restoration projects. You will gain hands-on experience in building inspections, project coordination, estimating, construction management, and interpreting engineering drawings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site inspections and condition assessments.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and structural details.
- Develop an understanding of high-rise building restoration, including:
- Balcony restoration
- Brick and masonry repairs
- Concrete restoration
- Building envelope systems
- Waterproofing
- Underground parking garage restoration
- Explain drawings, details, and construction procedures to site supervisors and field crews to help ensure work is completed according to project specifications.
- Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimating.
- Support project managers with scheduling, project documentation, and quality control.
- Prepare daily reports, RFIs, and site documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and clients as required.
Qualifications:
- Interest in structural restoration, concrete repair, building envelope systems, and construction management.
- Comfortable communicating technical information to field personnel and helping crews understand project drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar software is considered an asset.
- Valid G driver's licence is an asset.
