The Manager of Respiratory Therapy and Edmonton Zone Neurophysiology, reports directly to the Executive Director of Critical Care, Burns, Neurosciences, Respiratory Therapy and the Stroke Program at the University of Alberta Hospital. In this position you will be responsible and accountable for providing direction and leadership over patient care activities and administrative operations in support of the vision and mission of Alberta Health Services. You will be accountable for the performance and results of staff and will provide guidance by following policies and best practices. In this position you will be responsible for operationalizing departmental plans to address service challenges as well as developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Specific Accountabilities: Oversees Respiratory Therapy Services at the WMC and Mazankowski and Neurophysiology for the Edmonton Zone, ensuring they support the overall goals and vision for Alberta Health Services.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Critical Care, Burns, Neurosciences, Respiratory Therapy and the Stroke Program at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Manager of Respiratory Therapy at the University of Alberta Hospital and Edmonton Zone Neurophysiology is accountable for the development and implementation of programs, projects, infrastructure and performance standards across a team of health professionals within the Respiratory Therapy and Neurophysiology programs. The Manager is responsible for quality improvement and the identification and management of risk within this portfolio. A key focus of this role involves the coordination and organization of assigned human, financial and material resources to ensure effective program delivery and the identification and resolution of issues that impact the program. This position plays a key role in strategic planning and development of new initiatives within these programs. The incumbent may also represent AHS Edmonton Zone at zonal and provincial tables.

Three to five years progressive recent management experience in an acute care setting. Proven ability to lead teams and promote collaboration, manage, delegate and prioritize work effectively among team members. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals and ideally manage within unionized sector. Must be eligible for registration with the appropriate professional association. Familiarity with applicable legislation and professional Standards of Practice.

Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related health or business field is preferred. Equivalences of education and experience may be considered.
