- Plan and implement high quality early years learning programs/activities based on the ELF model
- Provide a warm, nurturing and caring environment for children to support their self-esteem
- Develop and maintain an organized, welcoming, clean and safe environment
- Identify and respect each family and child’s individuality and plan educational activities accordingly
- Use a variety of techniques including: modelling, observing, documenting, questioning, and active listening
- Ability to manage children’s behaviour through positive reinforcement
- Identify each child’s strengths, needs and enhancing their skills through hands-on and open-ended activities
- Develop a collaborative relationship with parents and support them to identify their child’s developmental strengths/needs through daily communication
- Work with children with special needs and their parents
- Is aware of children’s pertinent medical information i.e. allergies, asthma, etc.
- Ensure weekly program plan is done based on children’s interests and needs, Supervise students and support their learning goals
- Ensure her/his knowledge is consistently up to date (knowledge in CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen, and AQI) and implement them in our daily program
- Provide programs with an awareness of, and sensitivity to, diversity/special needs issues.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Adhere to NCCC policies, procedures and related legislation
- Champion the NCCC Anti-Discrimination, and Anti-Oppression Principals
- Perform other duties as required
- Registered Early Childhood Education degree or diploma and at least three (3) years related experience
- Strong planning, time management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information appropriately and with sensitivity
- Knowledge of Serious Occurrence and Child Abuse policy
- Ability to work both independently and co-operatively as a member of the NCCC team, and fulfill policies and procedures of the organization
- Current training in First Aid and CPR
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- A satisfactory police check is required
