The Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle (IDHC) is seeking a passionate Eye Health Worker to join our Client Services team. This is a unique opportunity to enhance access to Diabetic Retinopathy screenings for Indigenous communities across Northeastern Ontario.
Key Responsibilities: Program promotion, training, implementation, partnership development, scheduling, co-ordination, research, evaluation, and certification support.
Qualifications: Relevant experience working with Indigenous communities/organizations in a health setting. Minimum of 4 years’ experience conceptualizing, developing, delivering, and evaluating health-related culturally safe educational programming, ideally focused on diabetes.
Professional Designation: Cultural Safety certification (e.g., San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or equivalent recognized program) is required.
Key Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of the impact of diabetes on Indigenous communities, with knowledge of wellness approaches through an Indigenous lens. Strong health promotion principles and experience delivering workshops and educational sessions. Ability to manage multiple projects, excellent communication skills, and strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365.
This role involves some travel throughout Ontario and may involve evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight stays.
