Position Summary
The Executive Housekeeping Manager provides department-head leadership for Housekeeping operations at the 402-room Radisson Blu Vancouver Airport Hotel & Marina. As a temporary full-time maternity leave replacement, this role provides continuity of leadership, leads a large unionized department through a team of managers and supervisors, and is accountable for cleanliness, presentation, room readiness, safety, financial performance and guest satisfaction. Housekeeping operations must be delivered efficiently and consistently in accordance with Hotel standards, applicable legislation and collective agreement requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
· Lead the day-to-day operation of guest-room cleaning, public and back-of-house area cleaning, assigned exterior areas, interior window cleaning throughout the property, assigned exterior window cleaning, trash pickup, linen control and coordination with the Hotel's third-party laundry provider, ensuring all assigned areas are clean, safe, properly maintained and ready for service.
· Plan daily staffing and work assignments based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, special events, business levels and operational priorities.
· Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, assigned exterior areas, interior windows, linen rooms and storage areas; address deficiencies promptly and document follow-up where appropriate.
· Establish and maintain effective cleaning schedules, deep-cleaning programs, preventive maintenance coordination and quality-control processes.
· Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, service recovery needs and housekeeping-related requests.
· Participate in daily operations meetings and maintain clear communication with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Security and other Hotel departments.
People & Labour Relations
· Provide visible, respectful and hands-on leadership to a large unionized department through the Housekeeping management and supervisory team, promoting teamwork, accountability and a positive workplace culture.
· Recruit, onboard, train, coach and evaluate employees in partnership with People & Culture and in accordance with Hotel practices.
· Manage attendance, performance, workplace conduct and employee concerns consistently, applying coaching and progressive discipline where appropriate, documenting matters and consulting People & Culture as required.
· Prepare schedules and assign work in accordance with operational requirements, the applicable collective agreement, seniority provisions, overtime and call-in requirements, job classifications and approved labour budgets.
· Build constructive working relationships with union representatives and shop stewards, and participate in labour-management meetings, workplace investigations and grievance processes in partnership with People & Culture when required.
· Ensure employees receive appropriate training in cleaning procedures, chemical handling, equipment use, ergonomics, safety and Hotel service standards.
Administrative Management
· Manage departmental labour, operating expense and supply plans within approved budgets.
· Monitor room readiness, inspection results, guest cleanliness feedback, productivity, labour cost, overtime, absenteeism, linen performance, inventory usage and other departmental indicators; take corrective action where necessary.
· Maintain appropriate inventory levels for linen, guest supplies, uniforms, cleaning products and equipment. Oversee the accurate sorting, counting and staging of linen for off-site processing, and monitor third-party laundry quality, deliveries, shortages, claims and invoices.
· Review invoices, purchase requests, payroll information and departmental records for accuracy and timely submission.
· Identify opportunities to improve service quality, productivity, sustainability and cost control without compromising cleanliness or guest experience.
Health & Safety
· Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, WHMIS, occupational health and safety procedures, privacy expectations, Hotel policies and applicable employment standards.
· Maintain safe storage, labelling and use of chemicals and equipment, and ensure required safety data sheets and training records are current.
· Investigate and report workplace incidents, hazards, damaged property and lost-and-found matters in accordance with Hotel procedures.
· Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including fire, evacuation, power interruption, water shutdown and other operational incidents.
· Protect Hotel assets, guest property, keys, access devices and confidential information.
Transition and Leave Coverage
· Maintain continuity of established departmental programs, commitments and service standards throughout the coverage period.
· Document key decisions, outstanding matters, schedules, vendor information and operational priorities to support an orderly handover at the conclusion of the assignment.
· Perform other duties reasonably assigned to support the Hotel's operational needs.
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum five years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a full-service hotel or comparable hospitality environment, including at least two years in a senior departmental leadership position.
· Demonstrated experience leading a large, diverse workforce; experience managing in a unionized hotel environment is strongly preferred.
· Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, room inspection standards, linen control, third-party laundry coordination, cleaning chemicals, equipment and workplace safety practices.
· Proven ability to manage labour, schedules, budgets, inventory and departmental performance in a high-volume operation.
· Working familiarity with Opera Cloud and HotSOS, together with the ability to learn and use other Hotel scheduling, payroll, purchasing and reporting systems.
· Excellent leadership, coaching, conflict-resolution, organization and communication skills.
· Sound judgment, discretion and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Working Conditions
· This is primarily a daytime, weekday position. Evenings, weekends and statutory holidays may be required depending on operational circumstances.
· Regularly walks and stands for extended periods and moves throughout guest rooms, public areas, assigned exterior areas, linen sorting and storage areas, and back-of-house spaces.
· Ability to bend, reach, push, pull and safely lift or carry items associated with housekeeping operations, with reasonable accommodation where required.
May be exposed to cleaning products, varying temperatures, noise and the physical demands of an active hotel environment.

Temporary Assignment Statement
This position is being offered as temporary full-time maternity leave coverage. The anticipated 12-to-18-month duration is an estimate and may change based on the incumbent's leave and operational requirements. The assignment is expected to end when the incumbent returns to work, on the communicated end date, or as otherwise permitted under the applicable employment agreement. While future opportunities within the organization may become available, this assignment does not constitute a promise or guarantee of continued employment beyond the coverage period.
Pay: $81,000.00-$91,000.00 per year
