Community Options is a not-for-profit organization. We provide early childhood services throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area. Our program offers specialized services designed to support children in their community daycare, preschool or kindergarten setting.
Our Community Preschool Education program receives funding through Alberta Education. As a PUF provider, we are champions of early intervention and inclusion. If you are the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of specialists and teachers. The role will be to plan and facilitate services that meet the unique needs of individual students.

Key Accountabilities:
- Work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to create an Individual Program Plan.
- Use standard and non-standard assessment tools/forms.
- Evaluate student progress and determine eligibility for funding.
- Author professional reports and referral letters.
- Adapt services to the changing needs of clients and families.
- Demonstrate flexibility and co-operation in dealing with change.
- Provide in-services/workshops to parents and educational assistants.
- Have fun! Positively contribute to the culture of the organization.
Attributes, Competencies and Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree/Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Pediatric experience is an asset.
- Registration with Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) and professional liability insurance.
- Champion of inclusive philosophy and must respect values of diversity and inclusivity in all its forms.
- Being adaptable, flexible, reliable, and possessing effective time management skills.
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with frequent kneeling and squatting for much of a shift, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- In occasional circumstances, must have the ability to run to ensure a child’s safety.
- If needed, able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
- There may be occasional evening shifts
Working Conditions and Conditions of Employment
- Standard Child Care First Aid and CPR (must be completed by 90 days from hire date).
- Current Alberta Child Intervention and Police Record Check with vulnerable sector check (obtained within the past 6 months or more recent to hire date)
- During office work, there may be periods of prolonged sitting and exposure to a computer screen and performing repetitive movements.
- Have a reliable vehicle for site visits, valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance. (Travel from site to site is reimbursed).
