The Near North District School Board invites applications for the following permanent position for the 2026-2027 School Year.
Three years with a possible extension to five years, funding dependent.

Position:
- Elementary Program Coordinator (Portfolio - French as a Second Language (FSL), New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP), and Multi-Language Learners (MLL)
Required teaching qualifications:
- A valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
- A valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers
- Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Qualifications

French as a Second Language Part 1 (minimum requirement)

Teaching English Language Learners Part 1 and/or Special Education Part 1 (deemed an asset)
Position Responsibilities:
- Offering support and leadership for Elementary Program initiatives in a variety of subject areas, including French as a Second Language and Multi-Language Learners.

Support FSL programming and initiative implementation related to the Board's responsibilities found within the Action Plan for Official Languages 2023–2028.

Contribute to the development of processes, and programs intended to support students who are identified as English as a Second Language (ESL) learners, English Literacy Development (ELD) learners, and/or Multi-Language learners (MLL).

Offer technical and pedagogical support to educators who teach or support Multi-Language learners, including the effective implementation of “Steps to English Proficiency (STEP)” framework.

Supporting the enhancement of elementary classroom pedagogy and evidence-based instructional approaches.

Plan and facilitate learning for new teachers (New Teacher Induction Program) as a member of the K-12 program team.

Track NTIP expenses and collect required documentation to report on outcomes as per Ministry guidelines.

Develop and maintain a variety of resources to support both mentors and new teachers within the NTIP program.

Other duties as assigned.
Position criteria:

Specialist in French as a Second Language preferred.

Teaching English Language Learners and/or Special Education qualifications considered an asset.

Demonstrated evidence of exemplary teaching practice at the primary, junior and/or intermediate level.

Demonstrated experience supporting improvement planning, implementation and monitoring.

Demonstrated experience managing budgets and writing reports.

Demonstrated program leadership experience (DLRT, Literacy Coach, teacher leader, etc.).

Proven ability to work collaboratively with principals, teachers, support staff, and other relevant partners.

Candidates require a minimum 5 years teaching experience.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across the district required.
