TITLE OF POSITION
Senior Manager (Full-time, permanent)
1 full-time (35 hours per week), non-seasonal, permanent position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Lead and manage complex audit and assurance engagements from planning through to completion, including drafting financial statements and note disclosures, for clients in a broad range of industries.
- Serve as the engagement lead on financial statement audits for clients that report under multiple accounting frameworks, including: Part I – International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with specific focus on credit unions and investment management entities, Part II – Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), Part III – Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO), and Part IV – Accounting Standards for Pension Plans
- Plan and execute audit strategies, including risk assessment, internal control evaluation, and supervision of engagement teams.
- Review working papers, financial statements, and audit documentation to ensure compliance with Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and firm quality control standards.
- Present audit findings, financial statements, and recommendations to senior management, Boards of Directors, and Audit / Finance Committees.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff, including review, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements, including specialized financial reporting frameworks set out by: (1) Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) (credit unions and mortgage brokers) (2) Ontario Ministry of Health, (3) Ministry of Long-Term Care, and (4) Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services
- Oversee and review the preparation of corporate, personal, trust, and not-for-profit tax filings, including T1, T2, T3, T1044, and T3010 returns.
- Advise clients on accounting, assurance, tax, and business matters, including internal controls, financial reporting improvements, and risk management.
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development, including identifying new service opportunities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies, tools, and firm processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required).
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing (required).
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive public accounting experience, with significant exposure to assurance engagements (required).
- Demonstrated experience leading financial statement audits across multiple frameworks, including: IFRS (with specific expertise in credit unions and/or investment management firms), ASPE, ASNPO, and Pension Plan reporting standards (Part IV)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), risk assessment, and internal control frameworks.
- Proven experience presenting audit results and financial information to Boards of Directors and Audit / Finance Committees.
- Experience working with and applying specialized regulatory reporting requirements, including: FSRA (credit unions and mortgage brokers), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Long-Term Care, and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing Canadian tax filings, including: T1 (personal), T2 (corporate), T3 (trust), T1044 (non-profit organization information return), and T3010 (registered charity information return)
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including mentoring, coaching, and reviewing junior staff work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex accounting issues clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
- Experience with Caseware, CaseView, Taxprep, ShareFile Projects software.
- Experience working with clients in financial services, not-for-profit sector, pension plans, and regulated industries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development and client relationship management.

- Unrestricted driver’s license and own transportation preferred for travel to client offices.
- Firm reimburses employees for direct out-of-pocket, including mileage, for travel to clients offices. Clients are primarily located in the GTA.

COMPENSATION
$127,000 plus a discretionary performance-based bonus ($69.78 per hour; 35 hours a week). Base-compensation subject to annual inflationary and discretionary performance-based increases,
