Purpose:
Reporting to the Data Architect within Enterprise Analytics & Business Applications (EABA), the Data Quality Analyst role works alongside the data warehouse and integration teams to provide quality assurance, primarily data error detection and correction on business processes, where data is collected, stored, transformed, or used. The role assists the teams with integrating data assets from a variety of external and internal systems and sources and ensuring and monitoring the final quality of internal data stores and flows. The Data Quality Analyst role is also responsible for supporting, tracking, and collecting information related to the data quality aspect of the Data Governance Framework.The Data Quality Analyst role monitors the quality of data used to make informed decisions, examines complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected, supports the resolutions of data quality problems, and collaborates to improve systems and database designs to incorporate data quality assurance. The role works collaboratively to provide support for analysis and research into the University's data structure, maintenance, performance, and modelling and contributes to the development, sustaining, and improvement of data.
Education:
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field, or an equivalent of four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined in below.
Experience:
Seven (7) years related Information Technology experience, which includes:
Five (5) years' experience in data quality analysis.
Three (3) years' experience working with major relational databases (Oracle or Microsoft SQL preferred).
Three (3) years' hands-on experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).
Experience with quality assurance testing.
Experience with Cloud environments.
Experience working with Key Performance Indicators.
Experience with Java and Python and enterprise Higher Education technologies an asset.

Knowledge of database structures and querying tools (SQL, MySQL, OLAP, Data Warehouse, etc.).
In-depth understanding and application of data quality principles across the data lifecycle.
Comprehensive knowledge of analyzing trends in data and identifying areas for improvement.
Knowledge of linking technical elements (data models) to business elements (business process mapping) is preferred.
Familiarity with data quality/data governance platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, Data Cookbook, etc. is preferred.
Knowledge of best practices in data analysis.
