Position: IT Event Support Technician
Department: Information Services
Reports to: Manager, IT Hospitality
SUMMARY:
The IT Event Support Technician provides frontline technical support during live events, ensuring critical technology systems remain operational across the venue. This role supports point-of-sale systems, payment devices, networking, end-user computing, printers, mobile devices, and event technology while working closely with internal IT teams, venue operations, concessions, and third-party vendors to quickly resolve technical issues and minimize disruption to guests and business operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide first level support on computer hardware and software issues including Point of Sale (POS) terminals, payment devices, receipt printers and related peripherals.
- Ensure timely recording, tracking, escalation and resolution of end-user technical problems and requirements received via telephone, e-mail, or in person
- Perform pre-event technology checks and preparations, responding quickly to issues.
- Troubleshoot basic wired and wireless network connectivity issues and escalate where required.
- Record, prioritize and resolve support requests in the Ticketing System, escalating or assigning incidents to the appropriate Technology Team member when required.
- Update documentation, schematics and asset information as required.
- Assist in documenting and communicating user/technical service policies for products supported by the Help Desk
- Availability to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays based on the event schedule
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to remain calm and prioritize multiple technical issues in a fast-paced live event environment.
- Working towards a degree or diploma in a technical related area
- Strong technical aptitude
- Basic understanding of Windows & Mac computers, mobile devices, printers, Point of Sale (POS) systems, payment terminals and assorted peripherals.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- A willingness to learn
- Highly organized, and detailed with an ability to multi-task
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Superior interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner with end users at all levels within the organization
- Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi and wired connectivity) would be an asset.
