COMMUNITY RESOURCE WORKER 3 for Meadows

About the position:
McMan’s Specialized Supports for Independence Program is seeking to recruit a dedicated CRW 3 to assist three (3) male adults with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, and complex behaviors, who have experienced homelessness or trauma from history in structured care environments. The adults require support to foster community relationships, daily living skills, decision making using a best practice approach to help transition to a greater degree of independence and healthy lifestyle choices.
Please note that there is possibility for pets to be in the home.
Hours: Rotating weekdays with every other weekend off. Shifts alternate between 7am-3pm, and 3pm-11pm. Averaging 40 hours per week.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta.
What you’ll do:
· Acting as a strong advocate for the individuals in the community
· Assisting individuals with daily living skills and finding employment
· Assisting with substance abuse issues using a Harm Reduction approach
· Assisting with managing mental health, substance use, health issues and trauma with other community partners in a multidisciplinary team
· Behavior Management/supporting adults with complex needs; support with legal matters
· Program Implementation and development
· Case management, including maintaining and updating working files
· Completing daily documentation and data collection
· Administering daily medication
· Working with individuals and staff team to create, implement, maintain and update personal support plans
What you bring:
· One year of post secondary education in a related field
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· One year of experience supporting adults or older youth with mental health and addiction concerns, including assessment and support related to suicidal ideation; demonstrated case management experience
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Security Clearance Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
· Emergency First Aid-Level A CPR + AED
· A valid class 5 licence, driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle and $2Million in auto insurance are required
· Familiarity working with high-risk populations, addictions, poverty, houselessness and the justice system
· Ability to build healthy relationships and manage crisis situations
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer/word processing skills
· Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Administration, and Trauma Informed Care training are considered an asset
