THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the House Person works with the Housekeeping Supervisors to attain the cleanliness and guest service standards required by the hotel.
· Comply with all Commitment to Clean initiatives and other safety practices related to the pandemic at all times to ensure the health and safety of all who enter into the hotel, including guests, co-workers and self.
· Respond to guest and Room Attendant requests for delivery of items, etc., in a timely manner.
· Provide daily cleaning & sanitation per standards to public areas (indoor and exterior), public corridors, and other areas as assigned.
· Complete evening service shifts as required.
· Ensure immediate communication of maintenance issues.
· Maintain equipment in a clean and proper working order, reporting any concerns in a timely manner.
· Work with the Guest Services and Maintenance departments regarding the upkeep and repair issues for public spaces.
· Responsible for light laundry duties while on shift, as well as more detailed laundry duties as assigned.
· Ensure the safe storage, issue and effective use of cleaning materials and equipment as directed by manufactures on their Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
· Ensure correct placement of fixtures, furniture, amenities & equipment.
· Maintain standards in compliance with Housekeeping Department Policies, Procedures and Practices.
· Provide support to Security by communicating any unusual situation or person.
· Ensure adherence to the hotel’s policy regarding security of bedrooms and keys.
· Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner with colleagues assisting where necessary to develop team spirit and to achieve standards of work and guest care as required by hotel policy and brand standards.
· Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications. Provide support per the Emergency Response Plan as directed.
· Participate in committees, focus group meetings and departmental meetings.
· Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards, according to the needs of the hotel.
· Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
· Project enthusiastic, optimistic, helpful attitude.
· Stand, walk, bend, crouch, push and pull for an extended period of time.
· Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by department heads/senior managers.
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE:
· High School diploma an asset.
· Experience in Housekeeping an asset.
· Experience with floor buffer, carpet extractor, and other deep cleaning equipment an asset.
· Ability to work day and evening shifts.
· Ability to lift, carry & move 11 to 29 pounds, frequently 30 to 49 pounds, occasionally 50 to 75 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, push and pull for an extended period of time.
· Ability to use the stairs frequently.
· Ability to occasionally work outdoors in seasonal temperatures.
· Ability to tolerate cleaning chemicals.
· Ability to prioritize, problem solve and make decisions in support of superior guest service.
· Ability to communicate with guests and team members in a concise, clear and empathetic manner.
· Ability to perform basic counting and arithmetic functions.
· Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.
· Ability to work both as a member team and independently.
· First Aid certification an asset.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
