About Footage Tools
Footage Tools engineers precision CNC-milled products from aircraft-grade aluminum for the utility and underground construction industries. Our tools — fusion equipment, service line replacement wedges, pipe pullers, lifters, and clamps — are deployed on work sites around the world. ISO 9001:2015 certified and proud members of the PE Alliance, American Gas Association (AGA), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and Utility Contractors Association of Ontario, we've built our reputation on one principle: engineered by experts, milled to last.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced CNC Mill Turn Machinist to operate multi-axis mill-turn centers with live tooling. This is a senior-level machining role — you'll handle complex parts that require simultaneous milling and turning operations on aircraft-grade aluminum to tight tolerances.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate multi-axis CNC mill-turn centers with live tooling (C-axis, Y-axis)
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs for complex mill-turn operations
- Machine precision components from aircraft-grade aluminum to aerospace-level tolerances
- Perform complete first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Select optimal cutting strategies for combined milling and turning operations
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize cycle times while maintaining quality
- Monitor tool life, manage offsets, and coordinate tooling needs
- Maintain detailed production and quality documentation per ISO 9001:2015
- Mentor junior machinists on multi-axis techniques and best practices
- Collaborate with engineering on new part development and process optimization
What You Bring
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with at least 2 years on mill-turn or multi-axis equipment
- Strong programming skills — ability to write, edit, and optimize programs at the control
- Expert-level blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMM)
- Experience machining aluminum to tight tolerances
- Knowledge of live tooling, C-axis, and Y-axis operations
- Trade certification (Red Seal Machinist) or equivalent experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, or similar multi-axis controls
- Process-driven mindset — you think about quality, not just parts
